SAIC’s innovative vehicles shine at industry fair
SAIC Motor Corporation Limited exhibited eight vehicles at the 2017 China International Industry Fair held in Shanghai on Nov 7.
The intelligence-and-green oriented vehicles typified the fair’s theme of “innovation, intelligence and green” and also demonstrated SAIC Motor’s capacity for independent innovation and determination to become a world-renowned automobile enterprise.
Using development trends in technology, markets and industry as guidance, SAIC Motor is striving to promote an innovative transformation featuring electricity, interconnection, intelligence and sharing.
The eight vehicle models demonstrated at the fair were the fuel cell car Roewe 950, the fuel cell light bus Maxus FCV80, the pure electric internet SUV Roewe ERX5, the plug-in hybrid internet sedan Roewe ei6, the pure electric light bus Maxus EV80, the pure electric MPV Maxus EG10, the luxury internet car MG6 and the custom-made internet SUV Maxus D90.
SAIC Motor is the only automobile enterprise in China that can produce the three core technologies of plug-in hybrid, pure electric and fuel cell at the same time. It has launched a dozen new energy passenger and commercial vehicles. It also is a pioneer in commercializing fuel cell vehicles.
Fuel cell car Roewe950 is the only one of its kind in China that has realized launch, sale and license approval. Its dual power source of batteries and fuel cells allows the vehicle to make use of pure electric, hybrid and brake energy recovery. A slow charging function with external power supply diversifies the power resources. This model has a maximum endurance of 430 kilometers and can be started even in a temperature of minus 20 C.
The fuel cell light bus Maxus FCV80, the only commercial one of its kind in China, is installed with a proton exchange membrane fuel cell, a hydrogen storage system with a density as high as 35Mpa, and duel power resources which take the fuel cell as main power source with a battery as the supplement. It only takes three to five minutes to fill up with hydrogen, which allows the vehicle to run for another 430 km. Thanks to these advantages, the vehicle boasts characteristics of environmental protection, is pollution-free and low noise and produces zero emissions.
The pure electric internet SUV Roewe ERX5 has a maximum endurance of 425 km and can be charged with 80 percent electric energy in 40 minutes. The plug-in hybrid internet sedan Roewe ei6 can consume oil as low as 1.5 liters for 100 km and has maximum endurance of 705 km.
All these vehicles are installed with Banma Intelligent Driving, an intelligent system for internet vehicles created by SAIC Motor and online giant Alibaba Group. The intelligent charging map can help drivers find the locations and service conditions of charging devices as quickly as possible. Other functions, such as Alipay, voice control, remote control and smart navigation provide comprehensive services in navigation, parking, entertainment and shopping, bringing a unique driving experiences resulting from the integration of internet technology with new energy.
SAIC also attaches importance to logistics and has developed an intelligent logistics and distribution system which was also demonstrated at the fair, together with its support equipment –the pure electric light bus Maxus V80.
The logistics and distribution system provides an automatic solution that can deliver 60 parcels per hour from storage, increasing distribution efficiency and reducing personnel input.
For the future, SAIC will focus on the development of electricity, intelligence, interconnection and sharing, and will strive to become a globally competitive and influential supplier of automobile services and products.
